What thickness of glass do I need?
It depends on the application and panel size. As a guide, 4–6 mm suits picture glazing and cabinet doors, 6–8 mm suits splashbacks and shelves, 8–10 mm suits shower screens, and 10–12 mm suits frameless partitions and doors. Balustrades normally need laminated toughened glass sized by calculation. Send us your sizes and we will recommend a thickness.
Can toughened glass be cut after toughening?
No. Toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled or edge-worked once it has been toughened; attempting it will shatter the pane. All cutting, holes and cut-outs are completed first, which is why we need final sizes and hardware positions before production.
What is the difference between toughened and laminated glass?
Toughened glass is heat-treated to be around four to five times stronger than ordinary float glass and breaks into small, blunt fragments. Laminated glass bonds two or more panes with a plastic interlayer, so if it breaks the pieces stay in place. Some applications, such as balustrades and overhead glazing, need both.
Do you deliver?
Yes. Glass is delivered to site or workshop on A-frames with edge protection. Delivery charges depend on location and order size and are shown on your quote. Collection can also be arranged.
How do I get a quote?

Do you supply and fit windows, doors and pergolas?
Yes. Alongside glass supply and processing, we survey, supply and fit uPVC and aluminium windows, doors, pergolas, verandas, glass porches, garden rooms, roller shutters, external blinds, fencing, gates, balustrades, decking and bin stores. Every job starts with a site survey and a written, itemised quote.
Do I need planning permission for a pergola or garden room?
Usually not, if it is behind the house and within the garden-structure limits. Since 27 July 2026 that means up to 30 m² of garden structures in total, no more than 3 m high with a flat roof, and at least 25 m² of garden left. Our planning permission guide covers the details.
