Slatted privacy screens

Aluminium slat screens that hide the bins, shelter the hot tub and stop next door seeing into your patio.

What is a privacy screen?

A privacy screen is a short run of slatted aluminium panels, freestanding or fixed to a wall, used to hide or shelter one part of the garden rather than enclose the whole boundary. It’s the quick answer to being overlooked on a patio, a hot tub in full view of the neighbours, or bins and an oil tank you’re tired of looking at.

How we survey, supply and fit privacy screens

  1. Survey. We look at what you want hidden, the sightlines and what we’ll fix into.
  2. Design. We pick the height, length, slat spacing, colour and any gate or access panel.
  3. Made to measure. Panels and posts are cut to size.
  4. Installation. We bolt down or wall-fix the posts and fit the slats level and evenly spaced.
  5. Handover. We check access to anything behind the screen.

Privacy screen FAQs

Can a privacy screen go around a heat pump?

Yes, as long as the heat pump keeps enough clearance for airflow and servicing. Slatted screens are ideal because they let air through. We follow the heat pump manufacturer’s recommended clearances.

Do privacy screens need planning permission?

Garden screens up to 2 metres high at the side or back of the house are generally treated like fences under the exemption. In front of the house, the limit for walls and fences is 1.2 metres.

Can privacy screens be freestanding?

Yes. Posts can be bolted down onto a patio, slab or deck, so the screen stands on its own without a wall behind it.

Will a slatted screen block the wind?

It reduces the wind noticeably while letting some air through, which also reduces the load on the screen. For full wind protection with a view, use glass fencing.
