Aluminium gazebo with a louvred roof over a hot tub

Aluminium gazebos

A permanent, freestanding shelter anchored to the ground, not a pop-up that ends up in next door’s garden after the first storm.

What is an aluminium gazebo?

An aluminium gazebo is a freestanding garden shelter: a powder-coated aluminium frame on four or more posts, anchored to the ground, with a proper roof on top. Unlike a fabric pop-up gazebo, it’s designed to stay up all year and through Irish winters. It’s essentially a pergola that stands away from the house, built to mark out a place in the garden and keep it sheltered.

  • Options: LED lighting and infrared heaters

How we survey, supply and fit gazebos

  1. Survey. We check the spot, the ground, access for materials, and where rainwater will go.
  2. Design. We agree the size, roof type, sides and any lighting or heating.
  3. Made to measure. The frame and roof are made to your sizes and powder coated.
  4. Installation. We pour or prepare the foundations, anchor the posts, build the frame and roof, and connect the drainage. A registered electrician handles the power.
  5. Handover. We show you how to look after it.

Aluminium gazebo FAQs

Can a gazebo go on grass?

Not directly. A permanent gazebo needs solid foundations, either concrete pads under each post or an existing slab or patio. The area underneath can stay as grass, gravel, paving or decking.

Do I need planning permission for a gazebo?

In the back garden, a gazebo usually counts as a garden structure. Since July 2026, all garden structures together, sheds included, can total up to 30 m², up to 3 m high, and must leave at least 25 m² of garden. Gazebos in front of the house are not exempt.

Will an aluminium gazebo blow away?

No. Unlike pop-up gazebos, an aluminium gazebo is anchored to foundations and designed for wind loads. It’s a permanent structure, not a temporary one.

Can I put a gazebo over a hot tub?

Yes, it’s one of the most popular uses. Leave enough height for the tub’s cover lifter. A louvred roof lets steam escape and can be closed when it rains.
